S. JOÃO HISTORY
This festivity dates back to XIV century when the worship of the Sun God was celebrated by thanking the abundance of crops. It was also tradition buying a leek, which would hang on the main wall of the house until the next year to give luck. Nowadays this festivity brings people together in the traditional city places for having a great time.
